When our clients were looking for a property seven years ago they didn't know Hillsborough too well but said “What attracted us to the house was how close it is to Hillsborough Park, local shops, cafes and Hillsborough Leisure Centre plus the public transport links are excellent.”

When it came to 26 Burrowlee Road, they mentioned, “It was love at first sight. After viewing many typical terraced houses, this property stood out with its double-front design and the convenience of being able to easily use the front door. The private, secluded feel of the rear garden was another big selling point, and the house felt far more spacious than many of the three-bedroom homes we’d seen. We immediately fell for the traditional features, such as the bay window, tiled hallway floor and high ceilings. And, of course, we loved the kitchen!

The tucked-away location was something they’ve grown to love and appreciate, “being slightly removed from the heart of Hillsborough, Burrowlee Road is a quiet street with a real sense of community. At the same time, everything we could need is a short walk away. Being so close to Hillsborough Park has been amazing, there’s Depot Bakery, a library, Parkrun, a playground and a walled garden.”

The house has been a fantastic home for them but now with their growing family, the time has come to move on. “Over the years we’ve put a lot of love and effort into making this house a home. In the living room, we’ve reinstated traditional features such as the coving, picture rails and a fire surround, making it a really characterful space. We love cosying up in there, with the log burner crackling away on winter evenings. We also extended the property into an underutilised area of the garden, this added a bright, sunny garden room. We use it as a playroom, it has dramatically improved the connection to the garden and is a lovely light-filled space for us to spend time together and relax in as a family.”

Entrance to the property is through the front door, to the left is the living room, kitchen/dining room to the right and stairs to the first floor straight ahead. The living room is a beautiful room to sit back and relax. There is plenty of space for seating and a bay window at the front but your eye is drawn to the fireplace with an exposed brick surround and stove.

The kitchen/dining room is a fantastic space for entertaining family and friends. The dining area has room for a large dining table and chairs, there is also access to the cellar. The kitchen itself is a timeless Shaker style with an incredible amount of worktop and storage space. In terms of appliances, there is an integrated oven, grill/oven, microwave and dishwasher. From the kitchen is a door that leads to the garden room. This was built by the current owners, it's a versatile space that has patio doors opening onto the private rear garden.

On the first floor are two bedrooms and a bathroom. Bedroom one is a large double bedroom at the front of the property. Bedroom two is another double bedroom with built-in storage above the stairs. The bathroom has a bath with a shower above, a WC, a washbasin and a towel radiator.

Externally, at the front of the property is a forecourt and privet hedge providing privacy from passersby. The private rear garden is currently low maintenance with a mix of paved, gravelled areas and a few flowerbeds, a great spot for that summer BBQ.
